ABOUT
NADYA GERAS-CARSON

I was trained as an illustrator at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco earning a BFA, and before that, a BA in theatre and dance. The original emphasis in art was theatrical poster design. Then came the work as an animal keeper, which filtered into the art, and stayed there. So, animals and theatrical lighting are evident in much of my work, along with a pretty odd sense of humor.

I do take commissions, and have done both animal and people portraits, but what I prefer is a general “I really love wombats and vikings. What can you do?” My prices usually vary by size, but sometimes my excitement level on a project can make a difference! I paint in oils and sculpt my animal pieces in porcelain. Larger life-sized human sculpture portraits are done in a high fire stoneware. Bronzes can be done, but just to warn you, they are very costly and take a long time.
